Seal Diving – Pro Dive Plett
Take advantage of the hot African sun and cool Atlantic coast waters with a spot of seal diving at Pro Dive Plettenberg Bay. Only 15 minutes from town, this is an activity for all ages!
Pro Dive Plettenberg Bay offers full or half-day seal dives suited to all levels. The adventure begins in the freshwater coves where the seals congregate before your group sets out to meet them in their natural habitat. Participants are led through shallow water by our experienced instructors who ensure everyone has a memorable and safe experience!
Robberg Nature Reserve Hike
The Robberg Peninsula Nature Reserve hosts an 82-kilometre stretch of coastline, with a rugged mountain range reaching 440 metres (1,440 ft) high. The hike takes you to the highest point of the reserve, from where you will have spectacular views of Plettenberg Bay, Nature’s Valley & Keurbooms Lagoon. The hike requires a fair amount of fitness, but there are convenient points along the way to stop and have refreshments.
The Robberg trail is one of the most popular in Plett and takes about 2 hours (one way). If you want a shorter walk, why not continue on past the old Robberg lighthouse and follow the coastal path all the way to the new lighthouse (about another one and a half hours). This path also offers amazing marine views and is very accessible for wheelchair users.

Biking & Walking Trails
The Garden Route is one fantastic place for biking with many of the trails dedicated exclusively to cyclists. The most popular cycling trail is along the rail tracks, which follows the coast line between Plettenberg Bay and Nature’s Valley. There are many scenic spots along the way where you can stop and take in the surroundings, making this an ideal family trail.
For avid hikers, there are trails inland which offer a more challenging experience as well as mountain biking trails for all ages and skill levels. Ask at your accommodation or follow the signs posted around town to find trails that suit you!
Kloofing
A popular local adventure sport to try is kloofing. Accessible to anyone, this activity involves descending steep ravines which have been eroded by water over time. The most famous spot in Plett is also the most popular – Boesmans Kloof – which offers breath-taking scenery and a chance to see the indigenous forest in its natural state. The walk down takes about 30 minutes and should only be attempted when there is no water running through the ravines – check with locals before you go!

Monkeyland
A popular activity for families, Monkeyland is a must-see attraction in Plett. The park has over 200 monkeys living in ten different species and offers guided tours of the premises as well as opportunities to hand feed some of your favourite primates!
Birds Of Eden
A world first, the Birds of Eden offers a unique experience unlike any other in Plett. The 500-acre reserve houses hundreds of birds from all corners of the globe within stretchable mist nets as they glide effortlessly over guests’ heads. Nearly every species on show can be found at some point during your adventure and best yet – no cages are used, as the birds are free to fly away at any time!
Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary
In South Africa, about 1000 Cheetahs have been released back into the wild. Plettenberg Bay is home to a rehabilitation centre for these cats and you can take walks or even scrub-a-dub down with them in their natural environment!

Whale Watching
Every winter, over 10 000 Southern Right whales come to Plettenberg Bay to breed and calve in the bay’s tranquil waters. The best time for whale watching is August – November. Tours depart from the beach at daylight where you can enjoy commentary on land with a hot beverage during your trip out to sea.
